Entire hands Australia his 11th stakes winner
Trainer Jessica Harrington and jockey Shane Foley continued their dominant form as Leo De Fury (4 c ex Attire by Danehill Dancer) broke his stakes race duck in the Mooresbridge Stakes (Gr 2, 1m2.5f) at the the Curragh and in the process handed Coolmore Stud-based sire Australia (Galileo) with his 11th stakes winner.
Placed in the Royal Whip Stakes (Gr 3, 1m2f) as a three-year-old, the Zhang Yuesheng-raced Leo De Fury always threatened to improve with age and he had no issues pulling away from a classy field, eventually beating Fleeting (Zoffany) by a decisive three lengths with another two and a half lengths back to Numerian (Holy Roman Emperor) in third.
Bought for €25,000 at the 2017 Goffs Ireland Orby Sale by BBA Ireland, the colt is out of placed Danehill Dancer (Danehill) mare Attire, who is herself a sister to Group 3 winner Forgotten Voice and a half-sister to fellow Group 3 winner Australie (Sadler’s Wells).
Australie herself produced Listed winning duo Hawke (Oratorio) and Mireille (Dalakhani).
The colt becomes the second stakes winners bred on the Australia / Danehill Dancer cross, joining Group 3 winner Sir Ron Priestley.
Australia’s progeny is headed by Group 2 winner Beyond Reason and he stood at Coolmore Stud in Ireland for a fee of €27,500 (inc GST).
Cracking return!

Leo De Fury could be a very decent four-year-old and is much the best in the Mooresbridge, more success in a golden spell for Shane Foley and @Jessica_Racing @curraghrace pic.twitter.com/VasNOoaP6B
