The Ballylinch Stud-based sire New Bay (Dubawi) became the latest first season sire to get off the mark when First Prophet (2 c ex Lus Na Greine by Pour Moi)scored on debut at Newbury on Friday.

The Charlie Fellowes-trained colt scored by a length and a half over Al Watan (Dubawi) with another three and a quarter lenghts back to Paws For Thought (Requinto) in third. in the EBF Novice Stakes (7f).

Bred by Ennistown Stud, First Prophet was bought by Fellows and Charlie Gordon-Watson Bloodstock for €50,000 from the draft of Manister House Stud at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale last year.

He is the second foal and becomes the first winner out of Lus Na Greine, an unraced daughter of Pour Moi (Montjeu) who is a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Rehn's Nest (Authorized), who also ran second in the Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m). He hails from the same family as Banstead Manor sires Kingman (Invincible Spirit) and Oasis Dream (Green Desert).
