The legend of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) gained a new chapter on Saturday, as his daughter Peaceful (3 f ex Missvinski by Stravinsky) handed the stallion his record-breaking 85th Group 1 winner as she scooted clear to win the Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) at the Curragh, moving one clear of Danehill’s (Danzig) record.

Fittingly the win came in the race that provided the stallion with his first ever Group 1 scorer when Nightime - the dam of the winner of last week’s Coronation Cup (Gr 1, 1m4f) winner Ghaiyyath - landed the race in 2006.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien-trained filly pulled clear in the closing stages to beat the Donnacha O’Brien-trained Fancy Blue (Deep Impact) by two lengths with another head back to the winner’s stablemate So Wonderful (War Front) in third, while there was a head back to New York Girl (New Approach) in third - with the first four placings filled by members of the O’Brien family.

O'Brien said the Coronation Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) at Royal Ascot on June 20 could be on the agenda, depending on how Peaceful comes out of the race.

“She’s a lovely filly, she always was. We always thought a lot of her and she was working lovely,” said O’Brien.

When the other filly went and did that [Love] we thought this was a very high-class filly as well.

"We thought she was very like Love, she was going to be very uncomplicated and was going to be happy to make the running if she had to and happy to get a lead if somebody was going. Seamie gave her a lovely, uncomplicated, straightforward ride.

"The two of them were possibles for the Coronation, obviously it’s not ideal that it’s coming up so quick but it’s a big help that the ground is nice. They shouldn’t have had too hard a race so we’ll see how they are and what the lads want to do on Monday or Tuesday."

The filly is out of the Listed-winning mare Missvinski (Stravinsky), who was also placed at Group 1 level, making her a sister to Listed winner and Group 3-placed Easter.

Further back this is the family of Grade 1 winner Fabulous Notion (Somethingfabulous).

Danehill and Galileo had remained tied on 84 Group 1 winners apiece since Magic Wand landed the Mackinnon Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) at Flemington in November and in another fitting piece of the puzzle Magic Wand also won on the card when she landed the Lanwades Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) later on in the afternoon.

The son of Sadler's Wells (Northern Dancer), who has stood for a private fee since 2008, will be represented in Australia this season by his sire sons Adelaide, Churchill and Highland Reel.
