The William Haggas-trained Mubtasimah (4 f ex Midnight Hush by Anabaa) made her breakthrough at stakes level in the Maggie Dickson Fillies’ Stakes (Listed, 7f) at Newbury on Saturday and in the process handed Dark Angel (Acclamation) his 59th stakes winner.

The filly was always travelling strongly at the front of proceedings and when James Doyle asked her for her effort she responded in fine style to score a two length victory over Miss Celestial (Exceed And Excel), while Sunday Star (Kodiac) was a further neck back in third.

Speaking to ITV, winning jockey James Doyle said: "Everything went to plan today, we didn't see a whole lot of speed on paper. She has ran good at a mile before, but I think the seven furlongs with the nice, kind ground is perfect for her. Seven on quick ground she probably finds a bit sharp."

The four-year-old filly was purchased by Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock for 65,000gns at the 2016 Tattersalls December Foal Sale and was then purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for €160,000 at the Goffs Orby Ireland Sale the following year.

Mubtasimah is out of the unraced Anabaa (Danzig) mare Midnight Hush, who is herself a sister to Group 3 winner Miss Anabaa - the grandam of Enjazaat (Acclamation).

Further back she shares a page with Group 3 scorer Fly On The Night (Equanio) and Listed winner Minalisa (Oasis Dream).

Dark Angel stood at Yeomanstown Stud for a fee of €85,000 in 2020 and he is represented in Australia in 2020 by his Group 1-winning son Harry Angel, who will cover his second book of mares Darley’s Kelvinside base for a fee of $16,500 (inc GST) having stood for $20,000 (inc GST) last season.
