Darley stallion Teofilo (Galileo) looks to have another star on his hands in the shape of Tawkeel (3 f ex Rafaadah by Oasis Dream) after she landed the Prix Saint-Alary (Gr 1, 2000m) at Chantilly, providing the stallion with his 17th Group 1 winner.

Unbeaten in her three previous starts, the daughter of Teofilo was very much thrown in the deep end for her first stakes race, but she had no issues pulling clear to beat Magic Attitude (Galileo) by an impressive five lengths with another head back to Solsticia (Le Havre) in third.

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Tawkeel is out of the Listed-winning Oasis Dream (Green Desert) mare Rafaadah, who is herself out of Group 2 scorer Joanna (High Chaparral).

Joanna herself is a half-sister 2016 Livamol Classic (Gr 1, 2040m) winner Willie Cazals (Aussie Rules).

Teofilo stood at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for a fee of €40,000 in 2020 and he is represented in Australia by his Group 1-winning sire sons Palentino and Kermadec, who stand at Sun Stud and Darley’s Kelvinside base respectively.

The filly provided Rouget with the second leg of a Group 1 double with the trainer having sent out last year’s Prix du Jockey Club (Gr 1, 2100m) winner Sottsass (Siyouni) to win the Prix Ganay (Gr 1, 1m2.5f) earlier in the afternoon.
