Rich Hill Stud shuttler Vadamos (Monsun) was handed his first first-crop winner as his daughter Sa Pala Umbrossa (2 f ex Grain De Beaute by Lawman) won over 1200 metres at Chilivani on Monday.

Purchased by Giovanni Floris for a mere €2,800 at the Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale from the Irish National Stud draft, the Antonio Cottu-trained two-year-old beat Lory Di Toni (Adaay) into second with Capo Testa (Duel) coming home in third.

Sa Pala Umbrossa is out of winning Lawman (Invincible Spirit) mare Grain De Beaute, who is herself a three-quarter sister to Group 3 winner Beyond Desire (Invincible Spirit) - the dam of Listed winner Queen Of Desire (Dubawi).

Meanwhile, the filly’s third dam Keswa (Kings Lake) produced the Group 3 winner Mazuna (Cape Cross), who in turn is the dam Group 2 winner Beautiful Romance (New Approach), whose brace of Group 2 wins include the 2016 Zipping Classic (Gr 2, 2400m).

A Group 2 winner over 1600 metres in Germany, Vadamos won the 2016 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr 1, 1600m) and finished fourth in both the Cox Plate (Gr 1, 2040m) and Emirates Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m).

The son of Monsun's (Konigsstuhl) had 31 yearlings sold for a total of NZ$3,148,057 at an average of NZ$101,550 in 2020 and finished Karaka 2020 (Books 1 and 2) as the leading first season sire by average with a top price of NZ$330,000. He will stand for a fee of NZ$15,000 (plus GST) this season.
