The Jessica Harrington-trained Newtown Anner Stud-raced Celestial Object (Galileo) - the second foal out of three-time Australian Group 1 winner Sea Siren (Fastnet Rock) - adds some Australian flavour to Wednesday’s card at Leopardstown when she looks to notch up her first stakes win in the Derrinstown Stud Fillies Stakes (Gr 3, 1m).

The daughter of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) has saluted the judge once in her five start career and will be looking to get off the mark for the first time as a three-year-old having been most recently seen finishing 11th in the Irish 1,000 Guineas Trial (Gr 3, 7f) on June 9.

Sea Siren started her career with John O’Shea and proved to be a top class sprinter, winning six times for O’Shea, including the Light Fingers Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) on only her fourth start.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock (Danehill) added the first Group 1 to her CV when she took out BTC Cup (Gr 1, 1200m), before following up that victory with another elite level win in the 2012 Doomben 10,000 (Gr 1, 1350m).

Sea Siren landed the Manikato Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) on her four-year-old seasonal debut and followed up that win with a second place finish in the Patinack Classic (Gr 1, 1200m).

The mare was purchased by global powerhouse Coolmore Stud before her run in the 2013 Doomben 10,000, where she finished second. She was then sent to Royal Ascot to contest the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Gr 1, 6f) and finished eighth behind Society Rock (Rock Of Gibraltar) after which was then transferred to Ballydoyle.

While under the tutelage of Aidan O’Brien the mare landed the Belgrave Stakes (Listed, 6f), before lining up in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) and Fairy Bridge Stakes (Gr 3, 7.5f), where she finished third and second respectively.

Bred by K Biggs Enterprises Pty Ltd, Sea Siren is out of unraced mare Express A Smile (Success Express), making her a half-sister to Group 2 winner Lady Dehere (Dehere), who in turn produced dual Grade 2 winner Oracy (Zabeel) and Listed scorer The Lady (Stravinsky).

Sea Siren also counts Group 3 winner and sire Oratorio (AUS) (Stravinsky) and Listed winner Discorsi (Galileo) among her half-siblings.

The mare’s first foal - a filly by Galileo, the unraced Betsy Ross - was purchased by Hinkle Farms for US$520,000 Keeneland November Breeding Sale in 2019 and she foaled a colt by the all-conquering Coolmore sire in 2018.
