Darley Stud-based stallion Exceed And Excel (Danehill) sired his 174th stakes winner when the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Miss Celestial (4 m ex Liber Nauticus by Azamour) landed the Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes (Listed, 7f) at Chelmsford on Saturday.

The four-year-old mare has been knocking on the door of a win at stakes level for her whole career and she finally got her head in front when she galloped clear to beat dual Group 1 winner Billesdon Brook (Champs Elysees) by a decisive six lengths with another three-quarters of a length back to Farzeen (Farhh) in third.

The mare, who is believed to be in foal to Newsells Park-based sire Nathaniel (Galileo), is out of Group 3 winner Liber Nauticus (Azamour).

Further back this is the same family as multiple Group 1 winner Conduit (Dalakhani) and Group 2 winner Hard Top (Darshaan).

Meanwhile, Glass Harmonium (Darshaan), who won the Mackinnon Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) also features on the page, as well as Group 3 winner Arab Spring (Monsun) and Grade 1 winner Blond Me (Tamayuz).

Exceed And Excel's progeny is headed by 15 top-flight winners including Microphone, who will stand his first season alongside the stallion at Darley's Kelvinside in 2020, while fellow elite level winner Exceedance will join the Vinery Stud roster this spring. Exceed And Excel himself will stand for $132,000 (inc GST) at Kelvinside.
