Mother Earth (2 f ex Many Colours by Green Desert) broke her maiden in impressive style in the Fillies’ Sprint Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Naas on Saturday and in doing so became the 34th stakes winner for former shuttler Zoffany (Dansili).

The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly had finished second on debut at Navan on June 10 and then was third in the Albany Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Royal Ascot. On Saturday she beat Sussex Garden (Acclamation) by four lengths with Give Her A Squeeze (Kodiac) a short-head further back in third.

Bred by Grenane House Stud, Mother Earth was bought for €150,000 by MV Magnier at last year’s Goffs Ireland Orby Yearling Sale from the Whitehall Stud draft and she becomes the fourth winner for the Listed-winning Green Desert (Danzig) mare Many Colours, making the filly a half-sister to last year’s Premio Dormello (Gr 2, 1600m) winners Night Colours (Night Of Thunder). The filly’s second dam is First Of Many (Darshaan), the dam of six winners and a half-sister to Listed winner Patience Alexander (Kodiac).

This is also the family of the 2014 Queen Mary Stakes (Gr 2, 5f) winner Anthem Alexander (Starspangledbanner) and her Group 3-winning half-brother and now sire Dandy Man (Mozart).

The filly becomes the second stakes winner bred on the Zoffany / Green Desert cross, joining Group 2 winner Illuminate.

Zoffany shuttled to Australia for four seasons between 2012 and 2015. His stakes winners are headed by two Group 1 winners in Ventura Storm and Albigna and he stood at Coolmore Stud in County Tipperary for a fee of €22,500 this year.
