The extraordinary Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) added a 318th stakes winner to his CV as the Aidan O’Brien-trained Snow (3 f ex Chelsea Rose by Desert King) clearly thrived from the step up in trip to win the Munster Oaks (Gr 3, 1m4f) at Cork on Sunday.

The three-year-old filly hit the front with two furlongs left to travel, but kept finding more when tackled by Snapraeceps (Canford Cliffs), eventually coming away to beat her by a length and a quarter. Loveisthehigherlaw (Kodiac) finished another length away in third.

The filly was purchased by MV Magnier for 1,200,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale from the Barronstown Stud draft and he is out of Moyglare Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 7f) winner Chelsea Rose (Desert King).

Chelsea Rose is the dam of five winners making Snow a sister to dual Group 1 winner Kew Gardens, who has been recently retired to stand at Coolmore’s Castlehyde Stud, while Chelsea Rose also produced Group 3 winner Thawaany (Tamayuz) and she is also the grandam of Justifier (Free Eagle).

Chelsea Rose’s half-brother Downdraft (Camelot) landed the Lexus Stakes (Gr 3, 2500m) in 2019 and she also counts Listed winner European (Great Commotion) among her other half-siblings.

Galileo sired an extraordinary 86th Group 1 winner on Saturday as Santiago ran out a shock winner of the Derby (Gr 1, 1m4f) and the son of Sadler's Wells (Northern Dancer), who has stood for a private fee since 2008, will be represented in Australia this season by his sire sons Adelaide, Churchill and Highland Reel.
