Filly hands Darley shuttler Territories his fifth winner
The Ken Condon-trained Teresa Mendoza (2 f ex Ceoldrama by Mr. Greeley) made a winning debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (6f) at Curragh on Friday and in the process handed Darley shuttler Territories (Invincible Spirit) his fifth first-crop winner.
The two-year-old filly stayed on well to beat Monaasib (Bobby’s Kitten) by a length and three-quarters with another two and three quarter lengths back to Irish Chief (War Front).
The filly is out of Ceoldrama (Mr. Greeley), who is herself the daughter of Group 3 winner Raymi Coya (Van Nistelrooy).
Ceoldrama is a half-sister to Listed-placed Make Fast (Makfi) - the dam of Tactical (Toronado), who won the July Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) on Thursday.
Teresa Mendoza’s fourth dam is Grade 1 winner Try Something New (Hail The Pirates) - the dam of Grade 2 winner Somethingdifferent (Green Forest).
Teresa Mendoza joins William Bligh, Rougir, Terrible Land and Uncle Jumbo as the stallion’s other first crop winners, while he is also the sire of Listed-placed Fulgentia. The son of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) is set to stand at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $11,000 (inc GST) in 2020.
