First northern hemisphere winner for Pride Of Dubai
The Kevin Ryan-trained filly Star Of Emaraaty (2 f ex La Grande Elisa by Ad Valorem) became the first northern hemisphere-bred winner for Coolmore Australia shuttler Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry) when she won over seven furlongs at Ayr on Monday.
Having finished second on debut last month the filly then finished unplaced in the Queen Mary stakes (Gr 2, 5f) at Royal Ascot and on Monday, having her third career start, defeated Party Spirit (Night Of Thunder) by a neck in the EBF Stallions Fillies’ Novice Auction Stakes (7f). Kraken Filly (Camacho) was another four and a quarter lengths back in third.
Star Of Emaraaty was sold for €3,500 to Robson Aguiar at last year’s Goffs Ireland Sportsman’s Yearling Sale. She becomes the second winner out of her once-raced dam La Grande Elisa (Ad Valorem) who is a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner and Windsor Park sire Rip Van Winkle (Galileo) being out of the Listed placed mare Looking Back (Stravinsky).
Pride Of Dubai’s first southern hemisphere-bred crop has yielded 11 winners headed by his Listed winning son Tanker and it also includes the stakes placed pair Bella Nipotina and Dubai Star. He sits at the head of the leading first season sires table by earnings in Australia with progeny earnings of $1,276,510, almost $350,000 clear of Spill The Beans (Snitzel) who sits in second place.
