The Nicolas Clement-trained King’s Harlequin (2 f ex Swift Action by Invincible Spirit) ran out a ready winner of the Prix Roland De Chambure (Listed, 1400m) at ParisLongchamp on Tuesday and in the process became stakes winner number 32 for Coolmore Stud-based stallion Camelot (Montjeu).

The two-year-old filly had finished third in her previous two career starts, but she flew home to beat longtime leader Go Atletico (Goken) by half a length with another length and a quarter back to Sealiway (Galiway) in third.

Raced by Sam Sangster, the filly was purchased by Tina Rau for €30,000 at the 2019 Goffs Ireland Orby Yearling Sale. She is out of winning Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) mare Swift Action who is herself a half-sister to four time-winning and Group 1-placed mare Littlefeather (Indian Ridge).

Littlefeather also produced stakes-placed pair Expedition (Oasis Dream) and Bee Eater (Green Desert), with the latter the dam of Group 3 scorer Minaun (Zoffany).

The filly’s third dam is multiple Group 1 winner Marwell (Habitat), who is the dam of National Stakes (Gr 1, 7f) winner Caerwent (Caerleon) and fellow multiple elite level winner Marling (Lomond) - the dam of Mugharreb (Gone West) and Pilgrim’s Way (Gone West), while she produced Listed winner Aquamarine (Mastercraftsman).

Camelot stood in Australia for one season in 2014 and his capabilities as a stallion have been advertised by northern hemisphere-bred South Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2500m) winner Russian Camelot. The stallion stood at Coolmore’s base in Ireland for a fee of €40,000 in 2020.
