Shadwell Stud stallion Muhaarar (Oasis Dream) was provided with his first stakes winner on Friday as Paix (3 f ex Pacifique by Montjeu) landed the Prix Frédéric de Lagrange (Listed, 2400m) at Vichy.

Having shed her maiden tag at the third time of asking at Clairefontaine on July 7, the three-year-old filly beat Mykiss (Makfi) by two and a half lengths with the same distance back to Control Tower (Youmzain) in third.

Purchased for €250,000 by Langlais Bloodstock at the 2018 Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale, the filly is from the same family as Thursday’s Leopardstown maiden winner Nicest (American Pharoah) - who is out of Chicquita (Montjeu) - who is herself a three-quarter sister to Paix’s dam Group 3-winning dam Pacifique.

Pacifique is out of Platonic (Zafonic), who also produced Listed winners English King (Camelot) and Prudenzia (Dansili) - the dam of LKS Mackinnon Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Magic Wand (Galileo).

Platonic is a half-sister Pongee (Barathea) - the dam to Cranbourne Cup (Listed, 2025m) and this season’s Scone Cup (Listed, 1600m) winner Dr Drill (Dansili) and fellow Listed scorer Pinzolo (Monsun). This is also the family of 2017 Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) winner Rekindling (High Chaparral).

Muhaarar stood at Shadwell Stud’s Nunnery Stud for a fee of £20,000 in 2020.
