Dhahabi (2 c Frankel - Fleche d'Or by Dubai Destination), a half-brother to Golden Horn (Cape Cross), scored a narrow debut victory at Newmarket on Saturday in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden (7f).

The Charlie Appleby-trained colt, who was the second most expensive yearling sold at public auction in 2019 when bought for 3,100,000 guineas at last year's Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1, scored by a neck from Dinoo (Starspangledbanner) with another length and three quarters back to New Mandate (New Bay) in third.

"I'm very pleased with Dhahabi and it will have been a great experience for him," said Appleby.

"He's a very good-looking individual and has a great stride."

Dhahabi is out of the unraced Dubai Destination (Kingmambo) mare Fleche d'Or who in addition to her multiple Group 1 winning sire son Golden Horn has also produced the Listed winner and Group placed Eastern Belle (Champs Elysees).

His second dam produced Coronation Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) winner Rebecca Sharp (Machiavellian) as well as stakes winners Mystic Knight (Caerleon) and Hidden Hope (Daylami).
