The Newsells Park-based sire Nathaniel (Galileo), whose progeny is headed by brilliant mare Enable, sired his 20th stakes winner on Sunday when Lady Bowthorpe (4 f ex Maglietta Fina by Verglas) won the Valiant Fillies’ Stakes (Gr 3, 1m) at Ascot.

The William Jarvis-trained filly came from the rear of the field and showed an impressive turn of foot to beat Farzeen (Farhh) by four and three quarter lengths with a head back to Look Around (Kingman) in third.

Bought by James Toller for 82,000gns at Book 2 of the 2017 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Lady Bowthorpe is one of three winners out of the winning Verglas (Highest Honor) mare Maglietta Fina making her a half-sister to the Greenlands Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) winner Speak In Colours (Excelebration).

Her second dam is the dual winner Whipped Queen (Kingmambo) who produced five winners headed by dual Group 2 winner Tullius (Le Vie Dei Colori).

Winner of the 2011 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 1, 1m4f) and 2012 Coral Eclipse (Gr 1, 1m2f), Nathaniel stood for a fee of £25,000 at Newsells Park in 2020.
