Magical (Galileo) scored her sixth Group 1 victory with an easy win in Sunday’s Tattersalls Gold Cup (Gr 1, 1m2f) at the Curragh having taken out last year’s renewal by seven lengths.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained mare scored a two and a quarter length victory over Sir Dragonet (Camelot) with another two lengths back to last season’s Irish St Leger (Gr 1, 1m6f) winner Search For A Song (Galileo) in third.

"That was nice, it was a treat to get the ride on a filly like her.

"She jumped and she bowled away, she has a big, easy action. When I got down at the three, I was able to start stretching them,” said winning jockey Wayne Lordan.

"I thought in the last half-furlong she wasn't even killing herself. She's a top-class filly and I'm just delighted to get the ride on her.”

Magical finished second behind Enable (Nathaniel) in last year’s Coral Eclipse (Gr 1, 1m2f) and held that same position behind her in the Yorkshire Oaks (Gr 1, 1m2f) before taking out the Irish Champion Stakes (Gr 1, 1m2f) last September and then beating Addeybb (Pivotal) in the Champions Stakes (Gr 1, 1m2f) at Ascot the following month. The daughter of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) resumed her five-year-old season last month with victory in the Pretty Polly Stakes (Gr 1, 1m2f) at the Curragh and Sunday’s victory took her record to ten wins from 22 starts with career prize money of almost £3.5 million.

Magical is out of the triple Group 1 winner Halfway To Heaven (Pivotal) who has produced four other winners including Magical’s multiple Group 1 winning sister Rhododendron and her Group 3 winning brother Flying The Flag.

The mare’s second dam is Cassandra Go (Indian Ridge), winner of the King’s Stand Stakes (Gr 2, 5f) and dam of eight winners including Group 3 winners Tickled Pink (Invincible Spirit) and Theanna (Rock Of Gibraltar) who herself produced dual Grade 1 winner Photo Call (Galileo).
