First Stakes Winner for Rathasker-based sire Coulsty
Sunday’s Princess Margaret Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) winner Santosha (2 f ex Princess Zoffany by Zoffany) provided the Rathasker Stud-based first season sire Coulsty (Kodiac) with his first stakes winner.
The David Loughnane-trained filly came into Sunday’s race having finished third in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) at Newmarket in July and beat Hala Hala Hala (Exceed And Excel) by three quarters of a length with the winners stablemate Caroline Dale (Lethal Force) the same distance back in third.
Bought for just 5,000gns at the 2014 Tattersalls December Foal Sale, Princess Zoffany placed at three and Santosha is the mare's first foal. Princess Zoffany is a half-sister to four winners being out of the dual winner Tara Gold (Royal Academy) who is herself a sister to the Listed winner and Group 1 placed gelding Gold Academy.
Trained by Richard Hannon to win the Prix de Meautry (Gr 3, 1200m) at Deauville in 2014, Coulsty stood for a fee of €4,000 in 2020. He has sired four winners from only eight runners to date.
More to come from Santosha?
