Rathasker Stud-based stallion Clodovil (Danehill) was provided with his 24th stakes winner on Wednesday courtesy of the Michael O'Callaghan-trained Steel Bull’s (2 c ex Macarthurs Park by Equiano) victory in the Molecomb Stakes (Gr 3, 5f) at Glorious Goodwood.

Last seen impressively breaking his maiden on debut at Naas on seven days ago, the two-year-old skipped into the lead inside the closing stages to beat Ben Macdui (Kodiac) by three-quarters of a length with another length and half back to Internationaldream (Acclamation) in third.

"When you're on a horse like this he made it easy for me. He travelled everywhere and when I gave him a squeeze he picked up very well,” said winning jockey Colin Keane.

"He was a good winner of a maiden, he won his maiden in a hack it looked like at Naas, so he's a progressive horse."

The two-year-old colt was purchased by Madeline Burns for €5,000 at the 2018 Tattersalls Ireland Flat Bloodstock Mares and Foals Sale, before being snapped by Kilbrew Stables £15,000 for Tattersalls Ascot Yearlings Sale the following year. Most recently he was purchased by his trainer for £28,000 at Goffs UK and Arqana Breeze-Up Sale earlier in the month.

The colt is the only winner out of Macarthurs Park (Equiano), who is herself a half-sister Listed winner Three Captain Seas (Choisir). The colt’s third dam is Haydock Sprint Cup (Gr 1, 6f) winner Lavina Fortana (Sharpo).

Clodovil’s progeny is headed by two Group 1 winners; WATC Kingston Town Classic (Gr 1, 1800m) winner and Moriarty and Nahoodh and he stood at Rathasker Stud for a fee of €8,000 in 2020.
