The Aidan O’Brien-trained Military Style (2 c ex Together Forever) took out Thursday’s Tyros Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) and in doing so provided War Front with his 94th stakes winner.

Under Emmet McNamara the colt beat his more fancied stablemate Van Gogh (American Pharoah) by a neck with Masen (Kingman) another half length back in third.

A winner on debut, Military Style then finished third in at his second start in the Marble Hill Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Cork last month. He is one of two winners and the first stakes winner for Fillies’ Mile (Gr 1, 1m) winner Together Forever (Galileo) who has also produced the Listed-placed King Of Athens (War Front).

Military Style’s second dam is the unraced mare Green Room (Theatrical) who amongst her seven winners also produced Group 1 winner and sire Lord Shanakill (Speightstown). Further back this is the family of Group / Grade 1 winners Spanish Fern (El Gran Senor), Heatseeker (Giant’s Causeway) and Hearts Of Fire (Firebreak).

The Claiborne Farm-based sire War Front stood for a fee of US$250,000 this year. His stakes winners are headed by 21 Group / Grade 1 winners. His leading earner in the US last year was Omaha Beach who will shuttle to Spendthrift Australia for the first time this year where his fee has been set at $22,000 (inc GST).
