The Vincenzo Fazio-trained Tarhun (2 c ex Miss Purity Pinker by One Cool Cat) shed his maiden at the third time of asking when landing a race over 1500 metres at Naples on Saturday evening and in the process became the third winner for Rich Hill Stud shuttler Vadamos (Monsun).

The two-year-old colt beat Solare Orange (Rock of Gibraltar) by a length and a half, while Hermosa De Noche (Samysilver) finished another eight lengths away in third.

Purchased by Tally-Ho Stud - where Vadamos resides in the northern hemisphere - for €2,500 at the 2018 Goffs Ireland November Foal Sale Tarhun was then purchased by his trainer for €4,500 at the Goffs Ireland Autumn Yearling and Mixed Sale the following year.

He is the first foal out of the placed Miss Purity Pinker (One Cool Cat), who is a half-sister to the triple Italian Listed winner Azzeccagarbigli (Kodiac).

Further afield, the colt's fourth dam is Dawn Is Breaking (Import), who in turn produced Grade 3 winner Down Again (Encino) and Listed-winning duo Sotabrasciet (Danehill) and Solebrasciet (Danehill) and Sole Che Sorgi (Dancing Dissident).

Dawn Is Breaking is also the grandam of Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Bachir (Desert Style) and Listed winner Elliots World (King's Best).

The Group 1-winning son of Monsun (Konigsstuhl) had 31 yearlings sold for a total of NZ$3,148,057 at an average of NZ$101,550 in 2020 and finished Karaka 2020 (Books 1 and 2) as the leading first season sire by average with a top price of NZ$330,000. He will stand for a fee of NZ$15,000 (plus GST) at Rich Hill this season.

He stands at Tally Ho Stud in Ireland where his 2020 fee was set at €6,000.
