Rich Hill Stud shuttler Vadamos (Monsun) sired a double on Friday taking his overall tally of winners to five. The double was kicked off by Ballintoy Harbour (2 f ex Fingal Nights by Night Shift), who broke her maiden over five furlongs at the second time of asking at Pontefract, while Balavad (2 c ex Balamiyda by Ashkalani) chalked up his first victory over six furlongs at Lingfield.

The Paul Midgeley-trained two-year-old filly Ballintoy Harbour scooted clear in the closing stages to beat Prospect (Shalaa) by two and a quarter lengths with another length and a quarter back Arceus (Camacho) in third.

The filly is out of dual winning Night Shift (Northern Dancer) mare Fingal Nights, making her a half-sister to Listed-placed Moonlit Garden (Exceed And Excel) - who in turn produced Group 3-placed Mokaatil (Lethal Force) and Listed-placed Dan (Slade Power).

Further back this is the family of Group 3 winner Luzum (Touching Wood).

Meanwhile, the Jamie Osborne-trained Balavad - who was having his seventh career start - pulled clear to impressively beat Menai Bridge (Cable Bay) by three and a half lengths, while Alpine Springs (Anjaal) was another length and three quarters away in third.

Purchased by his trainer for €20,000 at the 2019 Goffs Ireland Sportsman's Yearling Sale, the colt is the eighth winner out of unraced mare Balamiyda (Ashkalani), making him a half-brother to stakes-placed Escalada (American Post).

Balamiyda herself is out of Listed winner Balanka (Alazo) - the dam of Group 2 scorer Balakheri (Theatrical) and Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr 3, 7f) winner Baliyana (Dalakhani), while Balanka is also the grandam of Grade 1 winner Bayrir (Medicean).

The Group 1-winning son of Monsun (Konigsstuhl) had 31 yearlings sold for a total of NZ$3,148,057 at an average of NZ$101,550 in 2020 and finished Karaka 2020 (Books 1 and 2) as the leading first season sire by average with a top price of NZ$330,000. He will stand for a fee of NZ$15,000 (plus GST) at Rich Hill this season.

He stands at Tally Ho Stud in Ireland where his 2020 fee was set at €6,000.
