Former Darley shuttler Night Of Thunder (Dubawi) chalked up his 16th stakes winner courtesy of Stormy Girl’s (3 f ex Refusetolisten by Clodovil) victory in the Flying Fillies’ Stakes (Listed, 6f) at Pontefract on Friday.

Trained by Rebecca Menzies, the three-year-old filly was having her sixth consecutive start in Listed company and she got her head in front for the first time since shedding her maiden status at Carlisle in September last year, when beating Jouska - who is by Woodside Park Stud shuttler Cable Bay (Invincible Spirit) - by a length and a half, while Magical Journey - who is also by Night Of Thunder - finished another length away in third.

Purchased by Compas Equine, Loughnane and Hughes for €22,000 at Part 2 of the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale from the Baroda & Colbinstown Studs draft, the filly is out of winning mare Refusetolisten (Clodovil), who is the dam of one other winner.

The filly’s third dam is Listed-placed mare Roses In The Snow (Be My Guest), who is the dam of Grade 3 scorer Snowdrops (Gulch) - the dam of Horris Hill Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) winner Tawhid (Invincible Spirit).  Roses In The Snow is also the grandam of Listed winner Huasca (Tiz Wonderful).

Further afield this is the same family as Listed winner Distant Mirage (Caerleon).

The son Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) shuttled to Australia for one season and his southern hemisphere crop is headed by two stakes winners, including Group 2 winner A Beautiful Night.

Night Of Thunder now resides exclusively at Darley's Kildangan Stud in Ireland where his fee for 2020 was set at €25,000. It was announced in June that he would also be available to cover to southern hemisphere time.
