Having taken out the Marwell Stakes (Listed, 5f) at Naas earlier in the month, the Ken Condon-trained Miss Amulet (2 f Sir Prancealot - Shena's Dream by Oasis Dream) took the step into Group company in her stride when she landed the Lowther Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) at York on Thursday.

The two-year-old filly looked to have the race at her mercy as the field entered the final two furlongs, but the William Haggas-trained Sacred (Exceed And Excel) was closing the gap with every stride. However, Miss Amulet responded to James Doyle’s urgings, finding more under pressure, to stave off the daughter of Exceed And Excel’s advances, to come away with a length victory. Umm Kulthum (Kodiac) finished another three and a quarter lengths away in third.

"It was a game display, and just listening to James on TV he said she was a bit isolated and the speed was away from her,” said Condon.

"I love her attitude and she's clearly still improving - I don't know where she'll stop. She took all the travelling well, which is a bonus, and she's really progressive."

"We'll be looking at the Cheveley Park now, why not - let's see where she ends up, when these fillies are improving you never know.

"I've had runners in this race before so it's great to win it, it carries huge prestige.

"We have a lovely team of two-year-olds this season and the wonderful part of it all is none of them cost a great deal. This filly cost less than £8,000, so it's a great story."

Purchased for €1,000 at the 2018 Goffs Ireland November Foal Sale, before making £7,500 when snapped up by BBA Ireland at the Tattersalls Ascot Yearling Sale the following year, the filly is one of three winners out of four time-winning Oasis Dream (Green Desert) mare Shena's Dream.

The filly’s third dam is Stresa (Mill Reef), who in turn produced Grade 1 winner Mill Native (Elusive Native) and Group 3 winning-pair French Stress (Sham) and Sporades (Vaguely Noble) - the dam of Listed winner Tigre D’Or (Tiger Hill).

Further back this is the same family as Group 3 winner Goldy Espony (Vespone) and Listed scorer Malkoboy (Rajsaman).

Sir Prancealot resides at the Rancho San Miguel in California in the northern hemisphere, while he will stand at Cornerstone Stud for a fee of $9,900 (inc GST) in 2020.
