Having been knocking at the door in some of the seasons biggest prizes, the Aidan O’Brien-trained Passion (3 f ex Dialafara by Anabaa) finally put it all together in the Stanerra Stakes (Gr 3, 1m6f) at Naas and became stakes winner number 325 for Coolmore Stud’s peerless sire Galileo (Sadler’s Wells).

The filly was having her ninth career start and only her second victory, but she had shown she was a stakes winner in the making when producing some good performances at the top level, including running third in the Irish Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f) in July.

The filly showed her toughness on Sunday when storming home to beat Traisha (Invincible Spirit) by a length and three-quarters, while Kastasa (Rock Of Gibraltar) was handed her first defeat in five starts when she came home another length and a quarter further back in third.

Purchased by Sackville Donald for 800,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Passion is out of the winning Anabaa (Danzig) mare Dialafara, making her a sister to dual Group 1 winner Capri and Group 3 winner Cypress Creek.

Dialafara herself is out of Diamilina (Linamix), whose four wins were headlined by her victory in the Prix de Malleret (Gr 2, 2400m).

Diamilina herself is a half-sister to Group 3 winners Diamond Green (Green Desert) and Diamonixa (Linamix), while she is also the grandam of 2008 Geelong Cup (Gr 3, 2400m) winner Bauer (Halling).

The Galileo / Anabaa cross has produced eight stakes winners, headlined by two Group 1 scorers- the aforementioned Capri and Lush Lashes.

Coolmore Stud-based sire Galileo has stood for a private fee since 2008, and he will be represented in Australia this season by his sire sons Adelaide, Churchill and Highland Reel.
