The regally bred Not So Silly (2 c ex Nehalennia by Giant's Causeway) broke his maiden at the second time of asking when he landed a two-year-old race over 1800 metres at Salon-de-Provence and in so doing became winner number four for former Arrowfield Stud-based first-season sire Scissor Kick (Redoute’s Choice).

Last seen finishing fifth at Vichy on August 8, the colt proved a class apart from his rivals when he posted an impressive six length victory over Trust On Him (Elvstroem), while My Nest (New Approach) was another length and a half away in third.

The colt is the third winner out of the winning Giant’s Causeway (Storm Cat) mare Nehalennia, who is herself out of Cheveley Park Stakes (Gr 1, 6f) Airwave (Air Express).

Airwave is also the dam of Group 3 winner Aloof (Galileo) and Listed-winning pair Orator (Galileo) and Meow (Storm Cat).

Meow is the dam of multiple Group 1 winner Churchill (Galileo), who shuttles to Coolmore’s Jerrys Plains base, while Meow also produced fellow top-flight winner Clemmie (Galileo) and Group 3 winner Blenheim Palace (Galileo).

Scissor Kick stood at Arrowfield Stud, but now exclusively resides at Haras d'Etreham in Normandy.
