Darley shuttler Territories’ (Invincible Spirit) fine start at stud continued on Tuesday as his daughter Linosa (2 f ex Balamana by Sinndar) got off the mark at the third attempt as she landed a fillies’ maiden over 1500 metres in Rome taking the stallion’s total first-crop winner count to ten.

Last seen finishing second in the Premio Gino e Luciano Mantovani (Listed, 1500m) in Milan on July 5, having run fifth on debut in June, the two-year-old filly put her experience to good use to beat  Sonova Beach - who is by Rich Hill Stud shuttler Vadamos (Monsun) into second, while Alkes (Comacho) came home in third.

The filly becomes the second winner out of Balamana (Sinndar), who is herself a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Bayrir (Medicean).

Linosa’s third dam is Listed winner Balanka (Alzao), who is the dam of Group 2 winner Balakheri (Theatrical) and Group 3 scorer Baliyana (Dalakhani).

Linosa joins Calcutta Cup, Rhoscolyn, Regional, Royal Scimitar, Teresa Mendoza, William Bligh, Rougir, Terrible Land and Uncle Jumbo as the stallion’s other first crop winners, while he is also the sire of stakes-placegetters Fulgentia, Teresa Mendoza and Terrible Land.

The son of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) is standing at Darley’s Kelvinside base at a fee of $11,000 (inc GST).
