Arrowfield Stud shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) sired his ninth first-crop winner on Saturday when Samrah (2 f ex Badee Ah by Motivator) landed the Prix Decathlon la Teste (1600m) at La Teste de Buch.

Beaten into third on debut, the two-year-old filly beat Flying Easy (Olympic Glory) into second, while Verdina (Anodin).

Samrah is the second winner out of the stakes placed Badee Ah (Motivator), who is herself a daughter of Listed winner Space Quest (Rainbow Quest) - the dam of multiple Listed winner Kocab (Unfuwain).

The filly’s third dam is Group 3 winner Apogee (Shirley Heights) - the dam of Group 2 winner Dance Routine (Sadler’s Wells), who in turn produced multiple Group 1 winner Flintshire (Dansili) and Listed winner Dance Moves (Dansili).

Apogee also produced Listed winner Concentric (Sadler’s Wells) who is better known as the dam of multiple Group 1-winning champion mare Enable (Nathaniel) - who added another September Stakes (Gr 3, 1m4f) to her record at Kempton on Saturday.

Shalaa's first European-bred crop also includes the stakes-placed Saeiqa who ran third in the Coventry Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) at Royal Ascot. He is standing his fourth season in Australia for an unchanged fee of $33,000 (inc GST) at Arrowfield Stud this spring. Shalaa, who stands at Haras de Bouquetot in the northern hemisphere, is currently sitting in second in the leading first season sires table in France by both earnings and winners.
