The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Glycon (4 g ex Glorious Sight by Singspiel) flew home to clinch victory from the jaws of defeat in the La Coupe De Maisons-Laffitte (Gr 3, 2000m) at Longchamp on Sunday and in so doing becomes Le Havre’s (Noverre) 39th stakes winner.

The well-bred four-year-old gelding surrendered his unbeaten record in the Prix Defi du Galop-Paris-Turf (Listed, 1800m), but he returned to the winner’s enclosure when beating Villa Rosa (Doctor Dino) by a short-neck, while Les Vertus (Shakespearean) finished another head away in third.

Glycon is one of three winners out of Listed-winning mare Glorious Sight (Singspiel), who is herself a daughter of Group 3 winner Zelding (Warning).

Zelding is also the dam of Group 2-winning Pivotal (Polar Falcon) mare Beauty Is Truth, who in turn produced Ranvet Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner The United States (Galileo), Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) winner Hermosa (Galileo), fellow elite level winner Hydrangea (Galileo) and Group 3 winner Fire Lily (Dansili).

Le Havre stands at Montfort et Preaux, where his fee in 2020 was advertised as €50,000 and his progeny is headed by four Group 1 winners. He is currently sitting second in the leading sires table in France by earnings behind Siyouni with his leading earner this season being Port Guillaume.
