Amica Nostra lands Listed contest in France

Former reverse Darley shuttler Epaulette (Commands) was handed his 15th stakes winner when Amica Nostra (3 f ex Qenaa by Royal Applause) landed the La Coupe de Marseille (Listed, 2000m) at Marseille Borely on Friday.

Last seen breaking her maiden over course and distance on July 8, Amica Nostra beat Port Etienne (Olympic Glory) by a length, while favourite Wally (Siyouni) was another short-head away in third.

Amica Nostra is herself out of dual-winning mare Qenaa (Royal Applause), making her a half-sister to Listed winner Silberpfeil (Clodovil).

Qenaa herself is out of Listed winner and Group 3 placed In The Woods (You And I), while further back this is the same family as Back At Two (Icecapade), the grandam of South African Grade 2 winner Elegant Al (Al Mufti), Grade 3 winner Catherina Lady (Anytime) and Listed winner Electric Elegance (Badger Land).

Epaulette’s progeny is headed by top flight winners Soqrat and Red Lark, who won the Del Mark Oaks (Gr 1, 9f) last month.

The son of Commands (Danehill) shuttled to Europe for five seasons, spending four at Darley’s Kildangan base in Ireland and one year at their Dalham Hall base in Newmarket and he is standing at Kelvinside for a fee of $22,000 (inc GST).
