Coolmore Stud’s peerless stallion Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) sired his 327th stakes winner on Saturday as Tiger Moth (3 c ex Lesson in Humility by Mujadil) delivered on the promise he showed when running second behind stablemate Santiago (Authorized) in the Irish Derby (Gr 1, 1m4f) in June, when landing the Paddy Power Stakes (Gr 3, 1m4f) at Leopardstown.

The three-year-old colt raced in the second pack, with the pace upfront set by Buckhurst (Australia) and stablemate Cormorant (Kingman). But as the field entered the straight Tiger Moth clearly had the measure of his stablemate, eating up the ground with every stride, coming away with a comfortable four length victory over Silence Please (Gleneagles). Up Helly Aa (Galileo) finished another neck away in third.

The three-year-old colt - who holds an entry for this season’s Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) - is out Group 3 winner Lesson in Humility (Mujadil), making him a half-brother to Listed winner and Group 1-placed and now sire Coach House (Oasis Dream).

Lesson in Humility herself is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Poet’s Vanity (Poet’s Word) and Listed winner Boastful (Clodovil) - the dam of Stage Play (Oasis Dream).

Further back this is the same family as Ffestiniog (Efisio) - the dam of Group 3 winners Eisteddfod (Cadeaux Genereux), Boston Lodge (Grand Lodge) and Border Control (Selkirk).

Coolmore Stud-based sire Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) has stood for a private fee since 2008, and he will be represented in Australia this season by his sire sons Adelaide, Churchill and Highland Reel.
