Last seen running third in the Lowther Stakes (Gr 2, 6f), the Richard Fahey-trained Umm Kulthum (2 f ex Queen's Code by Shamardal) netted her first stakes win when she took out the Firth Of Clyde Fillies’ Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Ayr on Saturday and handed Kodiac (Danehill) with his 62nd stakes winner.

The two-year-old filly came out on top of a well-fought battle with Scarlet Bear (Kodi Bear), eventually beating her by a length, while Lullaby Moon - who is by Haunui Farm shuttler Belardo (Lope De Vega) was the same distance away in third.

The filly was purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for £75,000 at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale earlier this year from the Tally-Ho Stud draft and she is out of the placed Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway) mare Queen's Code.

Further afield, the filly’s third dam Desert Frolic (Persian Bold), who is a half-sister to dual elite level winner Storming Home (Machiavellian) and the dam of 2012 The Metropolitan (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Glencadam Gold (Refuse To Bend).

Desert Frolic herself produced Group 3 winner Dubai Prince (Shamardal), while she is also the grandam of Grade 2 winner Tuttipaesi (Clodovil).

Tally-Ho Stud-based sire Kodiac’s progeny is headed by four Group 1 winners, including 2018 Caulfield Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Best Solution and the Cambridge Stud co-owned Hello Youmzain, who added a second Group 1 to his CV when he landed the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Gr 1, 6f) at Royal Ascot earlier in the season.
