Former Haunui Farm shuttler Showcasing (Oasis Dream) was handed his 44th stakes winner on Saturday as the Marcus Tregoning-trained Alkumait (2 c ex Suelita by Dutch Art) landed the Mill Reef Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) at Newbury.

Owned by Shadwell Stud, the colt beat Fivethousandtoone (Frankel) by three-quarters of a length, while Rhythm Master (Dark Angel) finished another length and three quarters away in third.

The colt was purchased by West Park Farm for 150,000gns at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, before being bought up by Shadwell for 220,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale from the Baroda Stud draft.

Alkumait is one four winners out of four-time winning Dutch Art (Medicean) mare Suelita, making him a half-brother to Listed winner The Broghie Man (Cityscape).

Suelita herself is a half-sister to the dam of Living In The Past (Bungle Inthejungle).

Meanwhile, the colt’s third dam is Grade 3 winner Horatia (Machiavellian), who in turn produced Group 3 winner Moment In Time (Tiger Hill), while this is also the family of dual Lonsdale Cup (Gr 2, 2m) winner Opinion Poll (Halling).

Showcasing’s progeny is headed by the recently retired Mohaather - who was also trained by Tregoning - Quiet Reflection and Advertise as the stallion’s other Group 1 winners and he stands at Whitsbury Manor Stud where his fee in 2020 was advertised as £55,000.
