A trip to France paid dividends for the William Haggas-trained Sea Of Faith (4 m ex Jumooh by Monsun) as she added some valuable black-type to her CV when running out a brave winner of the Prix De Tourelles (Listed, 2400m) at Saint-Cloud on Saturday and became the 70th stakes winner for the Gilltown Stud-based sire Sea The Stars (Cape Cross).

The filly did the hard work in front for much of the contest and she stayed on stoutly to beat Cosmic Princess (Kingman) by neck, while Solsticia (Le Havre) was another three-quarters of a length further back in third.

Last seen running fourth in the Galtres Stakes (Listed, 1m2f), the mare is out of Jumooh (Monsun), making her a sister to 2018 Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) Shraaoh and Raheen House, who landed the Chairman’s Handicap (Gr 2, 2600m) earlier this year, while she also counts Listed winner Born With Pride (Born To Sea) as her half relaton.

Jumooh herself is a sister to Queen Mary Stakes (Gr 2, 5f) winner and Group 1-placed Maqaasid (Green Desert) and the dam of Argentinian Grade 1 winner Il Fornaio (Orpen).

Further back this is the same family as dual Group 1 winner Ghanaati (Giant’s Causeway) and dual Group 3 winner Mawatheeq (Danzig), Muntazah (Dubawi) and Talaayeb (Dansili).

Sea Of Faith becomes the seventh stakes winner bred on the Sea The Stars / Monsun (Königsstuhl) cross, which is headed by the aforementioned Shraaoh and Sea The Moon.

Sea The Stars - whose progeny is headed by 14 Group 1 winners include last season's Australian Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Fifty Stars - stood at the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud for a fee of €150,000 in 2020.
