Darley shuttler Territories (Invincible Spirit) has made a good start to his stud career and that gathered even more momentum on Sunday when Fulgentia (2 f ex India Spirit by Dr Fong) broke her maiden in the Premio Ubaldo Pandolfi (Listed, 1200m) in Rome to hand the sire his first stakes winner and 15th first-crop winner overall.

The two-year-old filly was having the fifth start of her career, having already posted good efforts at stakes level, including running second in the Premio Vittorio Crespi (Listed, 1200m) on June 28 and she finally got her head in front when beating Virgin Isla (Mehmas) into second. Sunshine Day (Arcano) came home in third.

Purchased by Davide Livermore for £6,000 2019 at the Goffs UK Doncaster Silver Yearling Sale, the filly is out of ten time-winning Dr Fong (Kris S) mare India Spirit.

India Spirit herself is out of Grade 3 winner Gino’s Spirits (Perugino), making her a half-sister to dual top-flight winner Gitano Hernando (Hernando).

Territories’ first crop also includes six stakes placegetters and he is standing at Darley’s Kelvinside base for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST).

Meanwhile earlier in the afternoon in Milan, the Yeomanstown Stud-based Gutaifan (Dark Angel) sired his third stakes winner courtesy of Sopran Poseidone (2 c ex Ms Sasha Malia by Verglas) who retained his unbeaten record when he won the Premio Campobello (Listed, 1800m).

Sopran Poseidone joins Fev Rover and Sardinia Sunset as the stallion’s other stakes winners and he stood for a fee of €6,000 in 2020.
