Fresh from siring his first stakes winner over the weekend when Fulgentia (2 f ex India Spirit by Dr Fong) landed the Premio Ubaldo Pandolfi (Listed, 1200m) on Sunday Darley shuttler Territories (Invincible Spirit) added a second stakes winner to his record when his daughter Rougir (2 f ex Summer Moon by Elusive City) landed the Prix des Reservoirs (Gr 3, 1600m) at Deauville on Tuesday.

The Cedric Rossi-trained Rougir came into the race boasting some solid form, including finishing a good third in the Prix Marcel Boussac (Gr 1, 1600m) on his most recent start and she stayed on strongly all the way to the line to beat Cirona (Maxios) by a neck, while Sky Sister (Maxios) was the same distance away in third.

Rougir - who was Territories’ first ever winner - was purchased as a foal at the 2018 Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale in Deauville for €11,000 and then realised €55,000 at the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale the following year.

The filly is out of stakes-placed Elusive City (Elusive Quality) mare Summer Moon, who is already the dam of one winner.

Summer Moon herself is out of Kalatuna (Green Tune), who is herself out of stakes winner Kalasinger (Chief Singer), while further back this is the family of Kahyasi (Ile de Bourbon), who landed both the English and Irish Derby (Gr 1, 1m4f) in 1988.

The son of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) - who is the sire of 15 first-crop winners in total - is standing at Darley's Kelvinside base for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST) in 2020.
