After a string of placed efforts, the Ken Condon-trained Colfer Kay (2 f ex Thistlestar by Lion Heart) was finally able to get her head in front when she landed the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden (5.5f) at Navan on Thursday and in the process became the 11th northern hemisphere bred winner for former shuttler Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry).

After racing in second place for much of the contest, the two-year-old filly took the lead with a furlong left to travel and she stayed on tenaciously to beat Mickey The Steel (Hot Streak) by half a length, while Hala Joud - who is by Haunui Farm shuttler Belardo (Lope De Vega) was a further three-quarters of a length away in third.

The filly becomes the fourth winner out of placed Lion Heart (Tale Of The Cat) mare Thistlestar, who is herself a daughter of Listed-placed mare Katiba (Gulch).

Thistlestar is also a half-sister to stakes-placed pair Meadaaar (Diesis) and Badaayer (Silver Hawk).

Katiba herself is out of multiple stakes scorer Schematic (Upper Nile), who in turn produced fellow stakes winner Remember Ike (Gulch). Schematic is also the grandam of multiple-winning stakes winner Crafty Schemer (Crafty Prospector) and R Angel Katelyn (High Cotton).

Pride Of Dubai’s northern hemisphere bred winners are headed by four stakes winners and he is standing at Coolmore Australia at a fee of $38,500 (inc GST).
