Former Arrowfield Stud resident Scissor Kick (Redoute's Choice) chalked up his eighth first-crop winner on Tuesday as his son Skycutter (2 g ex Skysweeper by Hurricane Run) finally got his head in front in a race at Compiegne over 2000 metres on Tuesday.

Having finished second on his previous two starts, the Jo Hughes-trained two-year-old gelding went one better when he defeated Gorgias (Vertigineux) by two lengths, while Gosha (Galiway) was the same distance back in third.

Purchased by his trainer for €60,000 at the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale in 2019 from the Cadran draft, Skycutter becomes the second winner out of placed Hurricane Run (Montjeu) mare Skysweeper.

Skysweeper herself is a half-sister to Group 3 winner GM Hopkins (Dubawi) and the stakes-placed Zvarkhova (Makfi) and this is also the same family as dual Group 1 winner and stallion Mark Of Esteem (Darshaan).

Skysweeper's filly by Zarak (Dubawi) was purchased by Ste D Entrainement Carlos Et Yann Lerner for €65,000 at the Arqana Deauville Selection Sale earlier this year.

Scissor Kick stood at Arrowfield Stud for four seasons and now resides exclusively at Haras d'Etreham in France where his fee for 2020 was advertised as €5,000.
