The Tom Ward-trained Farasi Lane (2 g ex No Such Zone by Oasis Dream) shed his maiden tag at the sixth attempt when he landed Unibet 3 Uniboosts a Day Nursery (7f) at Kempton on Wednesday.

The two-year-old gelding has finished third on his previous two starts and he finally got his head in front when beating Fabrizio (Frankel) by two and a quarter lengths. Host (Mehmas) finished a further three and a quarter lengths away in third.

The gelding was purchased by Marengo Investments for €5,000 at the Goffs November Foal Sale and was then snapped up by his trainer and SackvilleDonald for £15,000 at the Tattersalls Ascot Yearling Sale from the Whatton Manor Stud draft.

Farasi Lane becomes the second winner of the unraced Oasis Dream (Green Desert) mare No Such Zone, who is herself a half-sister to Listed winner To Sender (King’s Best) and the dam of fellow Listed scorer Withhold (Champs Elysees).

The gelding’s third dam is Group 3 winner Slightly Dangerous (Roberto) - the dam of Group 1-winning trio Commander In Chief (Dancing Brave), Warning (Known Fact) and Yushmak (Danzig), who in turn produced Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (Gr 1, 1400m) winner Full Mast (Mizzen Mast) and Australian Listed winner Sound Of Nature (Chester House).

Slightly Dangerous also produced Group 2 winner Dushyantor (Sadler’s Wells) and Listed scorer and Group 1-placed Jibe (Danzig).

Belardo’s first-crop is headed by stakes trio; Isabella Giles, Lullaby Moon and Elysium and he is standing at Haunui Farm for a fee of NZ$10,000 (plus GST).
