Chamade prevails in Gillies Fillies’ Stakes
Former reverse shuttler Sepoy (Elusive Quality) sired his 20th stakes winner on Saturday when his Ralph Beckett-trained daughter Chamade (3 f ex Colima by Authorized) landed the Gillies Fillies’ Stakes (Listed, 1m2f) at Doncaster.
The three-year-old filly stayed on strongly all the way to the line to beat stablemate Trefoil (Teofilo) by three-quarters of a length, while Ice Sprite (Zoffany) was another head away in third.
Chamade is out of Listed-placed mare Colima (Authorized) making her a half-sister to the Brimham Rocks (Fastnet Rock), who has won twice at Group 3 level in Australia.
Colima is a three-quarter sister to Listed scorer Eradicate (Montjeu), while she is also a half-sister to Group 3 winner Oh Goodness Me (Galileo).
Further back the filly hails from the same family as Group 1 winner Lemon Souffle (Salse) and Group 2 Caramba (Belmez).
Sepoy’s progeny is headed by Group 1-winning mare Alizee and he is standing at Darley’s Northwood Park base at a fee of $7,700 (inc GST).
