Sunny Queen takes out Grosser Preis Von Bayern at Munich on Sunday
Sunny Queen (3 f ex Suivi by Darshaan) landed Sunday's Grosser Preis Von Bayern at Munich and in doing so provided her former Coolmore Australia shuttle sire Camelot (Montjeu) with his seventh Group 1 winner.
Trained by Henk Grewe, the filly beat favourite Torquator Tasso (Adlerflug) by a neck with two lengths back to Dicaprio (Adlerflug) in third.
Sunny Queen came into Sunday's race having finished second, beaten a short head, in the Grosser Preis Der Mehl-Hulhens-Stiftung (Gr 3, 2200m) at Hanover last month and she takes her record to three wins and two placings from six starts.
Bought for just €35,000 at the 2018 BBAG September Yearling Sale, Sunny Queen is out of winning Darshaan (Shirley Heights) mare Suivi who has produced four other winners including Listed winner Suestado (Monsun). Her second dam Suivez (Fioravanti) produced six winners including dual Group 2 winner Simoun (Monsun) and Listed winner Soignee (Dashing Blade) who in turn produced multiple Group 1 winner Stacelita (Monsun), dam of dual Group 1 winner Soul Stirring (Frankel).
Camelot has sired 33 stakes winners and his other Group 1 winners are Russian Camelot, Latrobe, Sir Dragonet, Even So Athena and Wonderment.
