A trip to France proved lucrative for the Roger Varian team as Stylistique (3 f ex Sleek by Oasis Dream) landed the Prix Petite Etoile (Listed, 1900m) at Deauville on Tuesday and not only provided her sire Dansili (Danehill) with his 146th stakes winner, but also provided her Bated Breath (Dansili) half-brother a timely update before he is offered by Carisbrooke Stud at this week’s Tattersalls December Foal Sale.

The filly finished second in the Rockfel Stakes (Gr 2, 7f) in September and she finally got her head in front in stakes company when she beat fellow British raider Perfect Inch (Dark Angel) by a length and a quarter, while Vadsena (Makfi) was another short-head away in third.

Stylistique is one of two winners out of winning Oasis Dream (Green Desert) mare Sleek, who is herself a sister to Group 3 winner Bye Bye Birdie - the dam of fellow Group 3 winner Delphi (Galileo).

Meanwhile, the filly’s third dam Masskana (Darshaan) produced Group 1 winner Eagle Mountain (Rock of Gibraltar), Group 3 winner Wallace (Royal Academy) and dual top-flight winners Dank (Dansili) and Sulk (Selkirk), who in turn produced Ibn Battuta (Seeking The Gold).

Masskana is also the grandam of Listed scorer Pimpernel (Invincible Spirit) - the dam of Group 3 winner Gold Town (Street Cry), while this is also the same family as New Zealand Listed winner Lady Le Fay (Thorn Park).

Sleek’s aforementioned Bated Breath colt will be offered at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale as Lot 821. https://www.tattersalls.com/sales/december-foal-sale/4DCGI/Sale/DEF%2020/Main/Lots

Dansili was pensioned by Juddmonte Farms in 2018 due to declining fertility and Stylistique is the fourth stakes winner by the sire out of an Oasis Dream (Green Desert) mare with the cross firing at a rate of 29 per cent stakes winners to runners.
