Rich Hill Stud shuttler Vadamos (Monsun) chalked up his 12th first-crop winner on Tuesday when Mammasaidknockuout (2 f ex Open Verse by Black Minnaloushe) broke her maiden at the fourth attempt over six furlongs at Lingfield.

The two-year-old, who was having her first try in handicap company, showed an impressive turn of foot to beat Oliva Mary (No Nay Never) by a length and Decadent (Mehmas) was a further three-quarters of a length further away in third.

The filly was purchased by Peter and Ross Doyle for €50,000 at the 2019 Goffs Orby Sale from the Tally Ho Stud draft, where the stallion resides in the northern hemisphere and she is out of placed Black Minnaloushe (Storm Cat) mare Open Verse, making him a half-brother four winners, including stakes-placed duo Tangled (Society Rock) and Faithful Creek (Bushranger).

Open Verse herself is a half-sister to 1995 Criterium de Saint-Cloud (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Polaris Flight (Northern Flagship).

Further afield this is the same family as Clever Martha (Clever Trick), Bears Artiste (Alphabet Soup), Bodgits Lady (Captain Bodgit), Bet On Soup (Alphabet Soup) and Mirielle (Greinton), who all won at Listed level.

Vadamos’ first-crop includes stakes-placed Spycatcher and he is standing at Rich Hill Stud in New Zealand for a fee of NZ$15,000 (plus GST). The stallion has 21 lots catalogued at Book 1 of next year’s New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale.
