Arrowfield Stud shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) continued his purple patch of form when the sire was handed his 22nd first-crop winner on Saturday with Mission Accomplise (2 g ex Gaazaal by Iffraaj) breaking his maiden at the second attempt over 1200 metres at Siracusa.

The two-year-old gelding, who finished third over course and distance on debut on November 7, beat Sociality (Mayson) into second and Uncertain Distance (Buratino) came home in third.

Purchased by Powerstown Stud for £67,000 at the 2019 Goffs UK Doncaster Premier Yearling Sales, the gelding becomes the second winner out of dual-winning Iffraaj (Zafonic) mare Gaazaal.

Group 2 winner Pollyanna (Whipper) features under Accomplise’s third dam and further afield this is also the family of Listed winners Khasayl (Lycius), Muklah (Singspiel), Nana Anna (Henny Hughes) and My Dear Son (Divine Light).

Shalaa has sired four new winners in the space of a week and his first southern hemisphere-bred crop include his Breeders’ Plate (Gr 3, 1000m) winning son Shaquero and Group 3 placed daughter Nice For What, whilst in the northern hemisphere he has sired three stakes performers in No Speak Alexander, Legal Attack and Saeiqa.

Shalaa’s 2021 fee at Haras de Bouquetot has been set at €15,000.
