Divertissement scores at Cagnes Sur Mare for Al Shaqab Racing
Divertissement (3 f ex Truth by Galileo), a daughter of Arrowfield Stud shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit), scored an impressive debut victory over 1500 metres at Cagnes Sur Mer on Monday.
Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget and owned by Al Shaqab Racing, Divertissement was ridden by Cristian Demuro and scored by a long neck over Krishnadargent (Kendargent), with another length and a half back to Nanawest (Kingsalsa) in third.
Bred by Coolmore Stud and Al Shaqab Racing, Divertissement is the first winner out of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) mare Truth who was bought for €1,000,000 by MV Magnier at the 2013 Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale. Her second dam is Prudenzia (Dansili) who has produced seven winners headed by Mackinnon Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Magic Wand (Galileo) and Irish Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f) scorer Chicquita (Montjeu).
This is also the family of English King (Camelot) who was bought by Armando Duarte, Ballymore Stables and Paul Moroney Bloodstock for 925,000gns at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale last October.
Truth was subsequently sold for €580,000 to Minster Stud at last year’s Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale.
Shalaa meanwhile sits at the head of the leading first season sires table in Australia following the victory of Shaquero in last Saturday’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m). He had 23 lots sell at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $5,345,000 at an average of $232,391 and top price coming for the colt out of Honesty Prevails (Redoute’s Choice) who was bought by James Harron Bloodstock for $1,150,000.
