Exalted Angel shocks rivals in Kachy Stakes
Yeomanstown Stud resident Dark Angel (Acclamation) was provided with his 68th stakes winner when Exalted Angel (5 g ex Hurryupharriet by Camacho) came out on top of a blanket finish in the Kachy Stakes (Listed, 6f) at Lingfield on Saturday.
Trained by Karl Burke and ridden by Clifford Lee, the five-year-old gelding was having his first start in stakes company and he took the step up in class in his stride, beating Fizzy Feet (Footstepsinthesand) by a neck, while Misty Grey - who is also by Dark Angel - was the same distance away in third.
The French-bred gelding was purchased by Sackville Donald for €150,000 at the 2017 Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale from the La Motteraye consignment and he is out of the Listed-winning Camacho (Danehill) mare Hurryupharriet.
Hurryupharriet is herself a half-sister to Group 2 winner Devonshire, while she is also a three-quarter sister to Hay Chewed (Camacho).
Further back this is the same family as Group 3 scorer Winter Power (Bungle Inthejungle).
Dark Angel is standing for a reduced fee of €60,000 in 2021, having commanded a fee of €85,000 last season and he is represented in Australia by Harry Angel, who covered his second book of mares at Darley’s Kelvinside base at a fee of $16,500 (inc GST) in 2020.
