Tenebrism scores at Naas on debut for trainer Aidan O’Brien
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Tenebrism (2 f ex Immortal Verse by Pivotal) scored an impressive three and three quarter length victory on debut at Naas on Sunday and in doing so became the first winner for one-time shuttler Caravaggio (Scat Daddy).
Under Seamie Heffernan, the filly raced in midfield, cluttered up between runners. She was shuttled back to last and when switched to the outside, she quicked up very impressively to catch the leaders and then race away to win with plenty in hand. The Jim Bolger-trained Gaire Os Ard (Teofilo) finished second with Lord Gorgeous (Bated Breath) another two and three quarter lengths back in third.
Tenebrism becomes the third winner for dual Group 1 winning filly Immortal Verse (Pivotal). Her second dam is Listed winner Side Of Paradise (Sadler's Wells) who is herself a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner and champion sire Last Tycoon (Try My Best). Further back this is also the family of Ranvet Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner The United States (Galileo) and his Group 1 winning sisters Hermosa (Galileo) and Hydrangea (Galileo).
Caravaggio shuttled to Coolmore Australia for one season in 2018.
Wow! What a performance from the regally bred Tenebrism to give our first crop sire CARAVAGGIO (Scat Daddy) his first winner!
