Former Coolmore Stud shuttler Excelebration (Exceed And Excel) sired his tenth stakes winner on Thursday as his son Lord Bay (3 c ex Miss Chaumiere by Selkirk) landed the Premio Pisa (Listed, 1500m) in Florence.

Last seen winning this seasonal debut at Pisa over 1500 metres, the colt built on that performance when beating Cirano (Arcano) into second, while Collinsbay (Cable Bay) finished third.

Lord Bay was purchased by Alduino Botti for €6,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale in 2019 and he is one of two winners out of placed Selkirk (Sharpen Up) mare Miss Chaumiere.

Miss Chaumiere herself is out Listed winner Miss Corniche (Hernando), while further back the colt’s third dam is Listed winner Miss Beaulieu (Northfields) - the dam of Miss Riviera Golf (Hernando), who in turn produced Hotel Du Cap (Grand Lodge).

Excelebration shuttled to Australia for four seasons and his ten stakes winners are headed by Group 1 winner Barney Roy.

Earlier in the day at Florence, Ornais (4 c Roderic O'Connor - Oryetta by Henrythenavigator) added a second stakes race to his CV when he took out the Premio Regione Toscana (Listed, 2200m).

The four-year-old colt landed the Piazza dei Miracoli (Listed, 2200m) on his final start as a three-year-old and he beat Thunderman (Blu Air Force) who finished second.

Ornais is one of 20 stakes winners for Roderic O’Connor and they are headed by elite level-winning trio Emperor Roderic, El Shaklan and Voador Magee.
