The Andre Fabre-trained Zellie (2 f ex Sarai by Nathaniel) came with a strong run from the rear of the field to claim victory in the Prix Marcel Boussac (Gr 1, 1600m) at Longchamp on Sunday. The victory handed Coolmore Australia shuttler Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj) his fifth Group One winner.

Times Square (Zarak) was a length and three quarters adrift in third, with another three lengths back to English raider Oscula (Galileo Gold)  in third.

"She's been very consistent all the way and the ground suited. She won really well,” said Fabre.

"She might be a little bit limited with distance, but she could be a filly for the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches."

Zellie was bought by Bloodstock Management Services for €140,000 at the 2019 Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale and she has now won four of her six career starts, placing second in her other two. She is out of Sarai (Nathaniel), a half-sister to 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) winner Speciosa (Danehill Dancer).

Zellie is one of 25 stakes winners for Wootton Bassett and she joins Almanzor, Audarya, Wooded and Incarville as his Group One winners. She is one of 12 juvenile stakes winners by the sire and becomes his first two-year-old Group One winner.
