Stradivarius tunes up for historic Gold Cup bid with Sagaro win 

Multiple Group 1 winner Stradivarius (7 h Sea the Stars - Private Life by Bering) showed his on track to land a fourth win the Ascot Gold Cup (Gr 1, 2m4f) with an impressive victory in the Sagaro Stakes (Gr 3, 2m) at Ascot on Wednesday. The John Gosden-trained seven-year-old was last seen running a disappointing 12th in the Long Distance Cup (Gr 2, 2m) at Ascot on British Champions day last October and he put that defeat behind him with an comfortable length victory over Ocean Wind (Teofilo). The seven-year-old entire is one of 14 Group 1 winners for Gilltown Stud-based sire Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) and he will be looking to equal Yeats’ (Sadler’s Wells) record of four wins in the Ascot Gold Cup when he lines up in the Group 1 in June. 
 

Nine for Mayson
The David Evans-trained Rohaan (4 g ex Vive les Rouges by Acclamation) ran out a shock winner of the Pavilion Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Ascot on Wednesday and in doing so handed Mayson (Invincible Spirit) with his ninth stakes winner. The four-year-old gelding came home strongly to beat Saint Lawrence (Al Kazeem) by a length and a quarter, while Spycatcher - who is by Rich Hill shuttler Vadamos (Monsun) - was the same distance back in fourth. Mayson’s stakes-winning progeny is headed by last season’s July Cup (Gr 1, 6f) winner Oxted. 
 

Third stakes win for Oh This Is Us
The Richard Hannon-trained Oh This Is Us (8 h Acclamation - Shamwari Lodge by Hawk Wing) chalked up his third stakes victory when he landed the Paradise Stakes (Listed, 1m) at Ascot on Wednesday. Sent off at 66/1, the eight-year-old entire stormed home to beat Prince Eiji (Dubawi) by a head. Sir Busker (Sir Prancealot) was another length away in third. Oh This Is Us is one of 56 stakes winners for Acclamation (Royal Applause).
